It seems as if Christian Eriksen is still determined to leave Spurs, either in January or in the summer, despite the recent appointment of Jose Mourinho.

According to FC Inter News (via Sport Witness), the chances of Eriksen signing a new deal with the club are slim, with several European clubs including Inter set to approach the 27-year-old at the end of the season; when Eriksen’s contract with Spurs is set to expire.

Indeed, according to the report, Spurs presented a ‘rich offer’ to extend the 27-year-old’s contract, which included a €50m (£43m) release clause, but he turned it down as his agent Martin Schoots has offers from several clubs.

This perhaps comes as a surprise for Spurs fans, who may have imagined that the departure of Pochettino coupled with the appointment of Mourinho last week could sway the former Ajax man’s decision.

TIF Tactics:

It seems unlikely that we will see much more of Eriksen in the Premier League unless he and Mourinho can find a solution. You would still expect several clubs to take a keen interest in the 27-year-old however, especially if they can secure his services on a free transfer in the summer.

The midfielder has a tough decision to make now that Mourinho is boss, as he was benched for Spurs’ trip to the London Stadium last weekend, as well as starting on the bench against Olympiacos, and a lack of appearances could potentially harm Eriksen’s chances with his international squad at Euro 2020 in the summer.

You would, therefore, expect that Eriksen’s performances will improve, despite him still seeming to have no desire of extending his current deal at Spurs.
