Some Nottingham Forest fans have hailed veteran Michael Dawson and feel that he is a true professional who has done a lot for the club.

The 36-year-old Dawson celebrated his birthday yesterday and the Englishman has played nine times in the Championship for Forest this season, scoring once too so far.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man and England international is currently out injured because of a calf injury that he had suffered in late September. He hasn’t featured for the club since their 3-2 win over Stoke City.

On his birthday yesterday, Forest fans have hailed Dawson and only had good words to say about the defender.

Dawson is a product of the Forest youth academy and was poached by Tottenham in the January of 2005. He went on to make as many as 324 appearances for Spurs, also scoring ten times and assisting five times as well.

He also had a brief spell at Hull City once he left Spurs. For them, Dawson had 132 appearances for the club. They came in the Premier League and in the Championship, scoring nine times on the way too.

He rejoined Forest in the summer of 2018 on a free transfer and signed a two-year deal at the club.

Since joining, Dawson has played 22 times in all competitions for his childhood club and before sustaining the injury recently, he had established a sound centre-back partnership with 22-year-old Joe Worrall.

More Forest fans hailed the veteran.

What do we think?

Dawson’s experience has been vital for the club, which will be very important, as the season wears on as Forest continue to challenge for promotion back into the Premier League. Worrall will learn and mature because of him and a player like Dawson will hand the club the Premier League experience they perhaps need to try and win promotion. Players could learn a lot from a character like him.
