Some Manchester United fans feel that defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka is the best right-back in the Premier League.

The 21-year-old has played in eight Premier League games for United this season. He has played in both of the club’s League Cup games, appearing once in the UEFA Europa League too.

During United’s 3-1 win over Norwich City at Carrow Road this past weekend, Wan-Bissaka won as many as 10 tackles. The Englishman also made four interceptions in the win at East Anglia.

A stat that went viral on Twitter says that the right-back has won ten or more tackles in two games this season – a figure backed up by WhoScored’s data. With that, he has matched Patrice Evra, who last achieved this feat back in 2012.

Some United fans reacted really positively, while some suggested that Wan-Bissaka is the best right-back in the Premier League.

Wan-Bissaka has won the highest number of tackles per game for United this season, with an average of 5.4 per match. Fred, who is second on the list, has made only 2.3 tackles per game.

Not just that, but the defender has also made the highest tackles per game in the Premier League – more than Leicester midfielder Wilfried Ndidi.

For Crystal Palace last season, Wan-Bissaka had made the highest number of tackles at an average of 3.7. However, he was behind the likes of Ndidi and former Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye in the Premier League standings.

Interestingly, one supporters even stated that he’s the perfect Patrice Evra replacement, which isn’t exactly true as he operates on the opposite side at right-back, but he’s definitely making a name for himself as a full-back.

Wan-Bissaka joined United this past summer from Palace for a fee of £50m. He wasn’t the club’s only summer signing though, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men also signed Harry Maguire and Daniel James.

What do we think?

Wan-Bissaka could definitely be considered the best defensive right-back in the league. But since he has limitations going forward, the former Eagles’ man may not be the best overall. He is more of an old-school full-back who picks his moments going forward. However, having said that, the influence he has had at Old Trafford has been nothing short of immense.
