Manchester United fans were treated to the news that the club are interested in former Manchester City forward Edin Dzeko in the January transfer window, but it seems as if fans are less than keen on the 33-year-old.
According to ESPN (via utdreport) Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is keen on the Roma forward as the Red Devils look to bring in a proven goalscorer in January.
Dzeko is arguably well-known by Premier League fans after his time with Manchester City; with whom he hit 72 goals in 189 appearances between 2011 and 2015 and it now seems as if United want to tempt him back to the Premier League to play for the red half of Manchester.
The Bosnian forward was deemed surplus to requirements at City and sold to Roma, where he has continued his goalscoring exploits despite his advancing age, with an impressive 93 goals for I Giallorossi in 194 games.
United are currently very reliant on Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial for goals, so it is no surprise to see Solksjaer looking at a striker such as Dzeko in January, with Romelu Lukaku still not replaced.
Reaction from United fans to the interest in Dzeko can be seen in the tweets below.
Please don’t.

Buying a player Man City seemed surplus to requirements about 4 years ago

If United sign Dzeko then Ole out. He do not know what is he doing anymore.

Proven goal scorer? He got 9 league goals last season. No thanks

Ngl, I’d be disgusted if this happened.

These tweets clearly show that the majority of United fans are not impressed by the link with Dzeko, due in part to his connection with Manchester City.
What do we think?
Dzeko isn’t the long-term answer to United’s problems, but he is a proven goalscorer and is valued at £12.6 million (Transfermarkt), so it would not be a surprise to see Solskjaer make a move for the forward in January.
The 33-year-old has started this season in fine fashion for Paulo Fonseca’s side; averaging a 7.34 rating in Serie A, which suggests that the only thing which could stop this deal being done is Dzeko’s obvious link with Man City.
