Manchester United fans were handed some positive news by the club this week as it was announced that young defender Axel Tuanzebe has returned to first-team training.

The 22-year-old defender has broken into the senior side at United for the first time in his career; making four starts so far this season for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. The youngster has been out with a hip injury since the game against Newcastle in October but looks set to return to action following the international break.

Tuanzebe is a product of the famous academy at Old Trafford and enjoyed an extremely fruitful loan spell at Aston Villa last season; making 35 appearances as they earned promotion to the Premier League. It is no surprise that after his promising displays in the Championship, the defender was deemed ready for more first-team action under Solskjaer.

Reaction from United fans to Tuanzebe’s return from injury can be seen in the tweets below.

United fans are clearly excited about Tuanzebe’s return to training and will be hoping to see him back in the first-team in the upcoming fixtures.

What do we think?

United’s recent form has improved slightly but they still find themselves outside the top-four; in 7th place after their first 12 Premier League fixtures. Solskjaer’s side have kept just two clean sheets in the league so far this season, so Tuanzebe’s return to fitness can only be a positive for the Red Devils. They will need to be on top form if they are to pick up any points at Bramall Lane on Sunday; where they face Chris Wilder’s high-flying Sheffield United.
