A lot of Liverpool fans were full of praise for Jose Mourinho after his punditry appearance on Sky Sports, in which he discussed the Reds’ incredible performance and win against Manchester City.
The Reds moved eight points clear at the top of the Premier League after a 3-1 win over Pep Guardiola’s side on Sunday, producing a scintillating attacking display that proved too much for the Citizens’ makeshift defence. After the game, Mourinho; who has been working as a pundit for Sky Sports after being sacked as manager of Manchester United last season, seemingly wrote off Manchester City’s title chances following the loss.
Liverpool fans were understandably not big supporters of Mourinho during his managerial tenures at Chelsea and Manchester United, but it seems as if many have a new-found respect for the Portuguese pundit after he spoke highly of the Reds on Sunday.
When talking with former City captain and fellow pundit on the day Vincent Kompany, the 56-year-old said: “you are the Champions of England, but they are the Champions of Europe.”
Reaction from Reds fans to Mourinho’s post-match thoughts can be seen in the tweets below.

I think Jose should stay away from management, is it just me or is he becoming likeable again.

Mourinho is probably the best pundit out there rn. He just understands football so much. Giving Carra and Keane a run for their money

Some Reds fans have clearly been swayed by Mourinho’s comments and many want to see the manager stick to punditry for the foreseeable future.
What do we think?
Mourinho was one of the best managers in the world and now it seems as if fans are beginning to appreciate his knowledge as a pundit. However, it is easy to disagree with his thoughts on City being out of the title race, as Liverpool still have to travel to the Etihad, which is where their incredible unbeaten run was ended last season, so it would be unwise to rule City out this early in the season.
