Liverpool fans may not be expecting to see too many signings from Jurgen Klopp in the near future but it seems as if the Reds will be making a move for West Brom youngster Jovan Malcolm in the next month.

According to Football Insider, The 16-year-old seriously impressed Reds academy coaches after he hit an impressive four goals for West Brom u’18’s in their fixture against Liverpool u’18’s last week. Malcolm is on the Reds’ radar after his devastating performance and the Premier League leaders are expected to make a move for the young forward.

The Baggies may not be keen to see Malcolm leave after two of their hottest youth prospects in Morgan Rogers and Louie Barry joined Manchester City and Barcelona over the summer. With Malcolm being just 16 however, the Championship side cannot tie him down to a professional contract until his 17th birthday next month; meaning Liverpool could potentially approach to sign the youngster for a cut-price compensation fee.

TIF Tactics:

Malcolm has impressed for West Brom in the u18 Premier League so far, despite being just 16, with seven goals in their opening nine games. If Liverpool can snatch up the youngster before he signs a professional contract with the Baggies then it could prove a very good signing for the Reds.

Of course, it would be a surprise to see him make an impact on Klopp’s first-team any time soon should he join up with the Premier League side, but making an investment in youth is clearly something of huge importance at Liverpool and Malcolm certainly looks to be one for the future.
