Although he is a name not many Liverpool fans will have heard of, Allan de Souza could be set to return to the club in January, following an impressive loan spell with Brazilian side Fluminese.
Liverpool originally signed the midfielder, who is known as Allan, in 2015 from Internacional but work permit issues mean that the youngster is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Reds. The midfielder, who is now 22-years-old, has been sent out on loan no fewer than six times, most notably with Hertha BSC in the Bundesliga.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are currently eight points clear at the top of the Premier League, so Allan may well be sent out on loan again if he returns in January, although according to Lance Net (via LFCTranferRoom), Fluminese are very keen to keep the 22-year-old midfielder as they battle against relegation.
Reaction from Reds fans to the news that Allan could be set to return in January can be seen in the tweets below.
He has no chance in our squad

I’ve watched enough of him to think he’d be in with a chance in our midfield. He’s the best passer in the Brazilian league, he’s feisty and can dribble. Terrific left foot. I hope gets a loan to Spain. Then more people will see how good he is. Fluminense fans love him

keep him there, it will do more harm than good.

Why is he on loan on loan like that. How many years now

Weirdest transfer in Liverpool.

I think it’s the best for all involved. Allan is really evolving here and is enjoying himself. Liverpool can get a great prospect while Allan develops even further.

It seems as if a lot of Liverpool fans have given up hope of Allan getting a work permit and many seem to think that a swap deal for another Brazilian prospect might be the best option.
What do we think?
Whilst Allan might be impressing with Fluminese, unless he starts to feature for the Brazilian senior side he is unlikely to get a work permit anytime soon, meaning Reds fans may never get to see him start a game.
Perhaps if he can have a more successful loan spell in Europe and catch the eye of the Brazil manager Tite, then Allan may yet have a career ahead of him with Liverpool.
