Liverpool fans were treated to a video of a superb James Milner strike in training this week and many Reds fans took the opportunity to sing the praises of their 33-year-old midfielder.
Milner signed for the Reds on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015 and he has been a regular in the side ever since; making 193 appearances in his four years at the club. In that time, the experienced midfielder has contributed 25 goals and 39 assists and helped the Reds secure the Champions League trophy in May.
Milner has started this season in a similarly consistent fashion; with three goals in just seven starts so far this season. The former England international has proved himself to be an effective back-up to Andy Robertson at left-back; receiving a 7.33 rating for his performance there against Genk. He may have to fill in for Robertson once again this weekend, with the Scotsman set to miss Liverpool’s game against Crystal Palace through injury.
Reds fans were full of praise for their consistent midfielder after the club posted a video of him smashing in a goal in training, as can be seen in the tweets below.
James Milner is just perfect in the game. Gets older, gets better like fine wine.

Reds fans clearly enjoyed Milner’s strike and feel safe knowing he can fill in effectively for Robertson should he miss the trip to Selhurst Park this weekend.
What do we think?
Of course, one worry is that Milner is yet to sign a new contract with the club and could leave in the summer on a free transfer. It would be a surprise if Jurgen Klopp doesn’t try and keep Milner after his consistent performances for the Reds over the last four years; although Milner himself has expressed a desire to return to his boyhood side Leeds United, so it may be tough to keep the midfielder should they earn promotion from the Championship this season.
