Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has seriously impressed a lot of Liverpool fans with his recent performances, with many fans calling for him to start their crucial game versus Manchester City next weekend.
The 26-year-old, who signed from Arsenal in August 2017, has won over Liverpool fans after scoring fantastic goals against Arsenal and Genk respectively. The midfielder has made just 56 appearances for the Reds in his two years with the club after a succession of injuries; including a ruptured cruciate ligament, has meant that he has struggled to get a consistent run of games.
However, an impressive start to the season for ‘the Ox’ has really pushed him into Jurgen Klopp’s first-team plans, with the midfielder having scored three goals from just five starts. Liverpool are currently six points clear of closest rivals Manchester City and will be hoping to extend that lead when the two sides meet at Anfield on Sunday.
Reds fans are hoping that Oxlade-Chamberlain will feature against Pep Guardiola’s side, as can be seen in the tweets below.
100% he should. Stones & Fernanidino at CB with Gundogan as DM. We’d rip them apart on the break

His best two matches were against City and we really need some presence in midfield. Fabinho can’t play all three positions at once…

For me yes he seems to be back to his best know made up he’s back

These tweets clearly show that the majority of Reds fans are hoping to see Oxlade-Chamberlain start against Manchester City in their next Premier League fixture.
What do we think?
Oxlade-Chamberlain was superb against Genk, who Liverpool play again on Tuesday, so it would perhaps be a surprise to see the 26-year-old not start that game. If he does start that game then you would imagine he would be unlikely to start against City as well, but the midfielder is in such good form at the moment that Klopp may want him to feature as much as possible. Some of Oxlade-Chamberlain’s best games have been against Manchester City, so Klopp may be best served by resting him on Tuesday and having him at full fitness for the visit of their closest rivals for the Premier League title.
