Anfield Edition have been recalling some of the players to feature for Liverpool in the last decade on Twitter this week and the latest choice of Jose Enrique seeming to be a popular figure amongst Reds fans.
Enrique signed for Liverpool for a reported £6 million from Newcastle in 2011 and went on to make 99 appearances for the Reds in his time with the club. The Spanish defender received a lot of support after it was announced that Enrique was suffering from a rare brain tumour in 2018, although he has now had surgery and made a full recovery.
The defender made a strong start to his Liverpool career but was eventually released in 2016 after his performances started to deteriorate. However, it seems as if Reds fans still love Enrique for his time at Anfield, with the majority singing his praises after Anfield Edition asked fans for their thoughts on Friday afternoon.
Reaction from fans to Enrique’s Liverpool career can be seen in the tweets below.

Terrific player at bargain price but, not enough to get us back to where we wanted to be! Above average player, and a hard worker, is all I can really give him!

Quality on his day. Don’t really know why his career ended the way it did

These tweets clearly show that Liverpool fans rated Enrique during his time at the club, with some disappointed that he was released before fellow left-back Alberto Moreno.
What do we think?
Enrique was a popular figure at both Newcastle and Liverpool for his regular solid performances at full-back, although he would probably struggle to get into Jurgen Klopp’s current side.
