Leicester City midfielder Matty James is back in full training and has been coaching to occupy himself during his recovery. The 28-year-old has had a torrid time with injuries of late and didn’t play a single game in the Premier League last season.

The positive news was confirmed by the Leicester City boss during his pre-match press conference ahead of his teams trip to the coast where they will take on Graham Potter’s Brighton and Hove Albion.

Here’s what he had to say:

“The whole squad is fit. Matty James is back in training, he’s a fabulous player, so hopefully he can get a bit of luck, so it’s just about developing his football fitness.

“I don’t want to put any specific time on it for Matty because it’s been a difficult road for him. From a tactical perspective, he understands what we’re looking for.

The Englishman signed for Leicester City from Manchester United back in July 2012 for a fee of £1.13m and spent the second half of the 2016/17 season on loan at Barnsley.

TIF Tactics – It’s a squad game

Brendan Rodgers’ side have impressed so far this season and many are tipping them to continue their outstanding form and secure Champions League football come the end of the season.  If they are to maintain the extremely high standards they have set in the early weeks of the campaign, they will need to use their squad effectively.

Whilst James isn’t quite ready to waltz back into the squad, his upcoming return provides the former Liverpool and Celtic boss with another box-to-box midfielder with an eye for goal to eventually select from.

It’s a long old season and with the Foxes still in the Carabao Cup and hoping to go on a decent run in the FA Cup which kicks off in January – Rodgers will be pleased his squad are in good health including the almost fit former Manchester United midfielder.
