Fans of Everton have aired their frustration over how the club have brushed Marcel Brands aside.
With Marco Silva looking set to be relieved of his duties at Goodison Park (as per Sky Sports), the rumour mill of possible replacements has been in full swing (as per The Express).
However, an area where supporters have found more annoyance than with the swirl of rumours is the role that the club’s Dutch director of football, Brands, is allowed to play (via El Pivote).
With apparent clashes at boardroom level over who should be the next gaffer (as per The Mirror), there was a feeling that the 57-year-old director of football should be the key decision-maker.
I’ve been thinking this Andy. All these names being mentioned and all I keep thinking is that they dont sound like Brands appointments.
If that’s the case why do we have such a high profile DOF

Here here, however he is only being allowed to do elements of his job, either buy into his philosophy and allow him to revolutionise the club or get rid.

Spot on. Kenwright is undeniably meddling whilst Moshiri – who knows what he is thinking. Both should entrust Brands.

I’d walk if I was him, simples. Absolute farce how your own DoF can be shut out by a supposed back-seat Chairman and a Chief Executive who in theory should have no say in football matters

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Norwich City set the rumour mill in full swing, with David Moyes, Mikel Arteta, Mark Hughes and Eddie Howe all touted as replacements (as per The Express).
However, it now looks likely that the club’s owner, Farhad Moshiri, will bide his time over a new boss – to wait for the right person for the job (per The Mirror).
None of that, though, suggests a strong involvement from the clubs appointed director of football, which had supporters questioning who was making the decisions.
Have a feeling Kenwright has his say on both managers and players in/out

Even though we’ve brought Brands in, FM still has a massive say on the important things. It’s those two that will make the calls. When Brands first signed and did an interview with the OS he said “the owner” wants to play a certain way and wants a young, progressive coach…

Don’t get this. If they don’t want to listen to him, why give him a seat at the table? Moshiri is the majority shareholder and Brands is his man, why shouldn’t he support him? Struggling to see the logic here. Sure you have the right info?

What do we think?
It is always very difficult to speculate just how much involvement any senior figure has a boardroom level, so the feeling of supporters may be entirely false.
However, if their feeling does ring true, it seems odd to have Brands in that role and not give him the free reign to do his job.
