Everton striker, Cenk Tosun, has been added to the club’s growing injury list, according to Senol Gunes.

Speaking to a Turkish TV channel, TRT Spor, Turkey’s national team coach explained that the frontman will be missing their next two games through a groin injury (via aa.com).

The 28-year-old, who is valued at £13.5 million (Transfermarkt), had begun to make his breakthrough this season for Marco Silva, however, may be set for a short spell on the sidelines.

Everton’s injury concerns

Should the Turkish striker be set for a spell on the sidelines, he will be added to a growing list of absentees for Silva’s side.

Jean-Philippe Gbamin, Andre Gomes and Bernard were added to with Fabian Delph on Tuesday, who returned to Goodison Park from the England camp due to a persisting problem (per Sky Sports).

Gunes, however, told the Turkish TV channel that Tosun’s injury ‘doesn’t seem very serious’ although he ‘most probably’ will not feature for his national team this international break (via aa.com).

TiF Tactics – What does this mean for the Toffees?

Like any minor injury, for club level, the best possible time to pick up a shirt-lived knock is right at the start of an international break – hopefully meaning he will swerve missing any of the Toffees’ clashes.

However, should he miss some game time for Everton, Silva has a decent number of options to choose from otherwise (via Transfermarkt).

Despite leading the line against Southampton (per Sky Sports), the 28-year-old has rarely featured for the Merseyside club this term (per Transfermarkt), meaning Silva will likely revert back to his previous favoured choices.

Depending on what formation Silva opts with for the Norwich City tie, it is likely that Dominic Calvert-Lewin or Richarlison will play frontman should Tosun remain out.

Both are capable and both rank higher in terms of average rating for the season so far. The Brazilian attacker comes in strongest with a 7.24/10, then Calvert-Lewin on 6.51/10 and Tosun, finally, with a 6.38/10 (as per Whoscored).
