Some Crystal Palace fans are desperate to see Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi at the club, with some also keen to see their club sign Olivier Giroud.

Batshuayi, who was back at Chelsea in the summer, was at Selhurst Park for a brief loan period last season. He did score the club’s winner in their recent Champions League game against Ajax in Amsterdam.

With Palace currently looking short of strikers, a debate brewed on social media about which striker the club should sign. Some fans are confident that Batshuayi should return to the club, with others calling for Giroud.

This season, the Belgian has played 13 times in all competitions for the Blues, scoring five times and racking up a tally of two assists as well.

During his spell in Crystal Palace last season, Batshuayi had played 13 times in all competitions and found the back of the net six times during this time. He had a tally of five goals in 11 games and he played a role in helping the Eagles avoid relegation.

In the 2017-18 campaign, Batshuayi also had a spell at Borussia Dortmund. In the Bundesliga, the former Marseille man played just ten games. But during that time, he racked up as many as seven goals and also had one assist to his name.

The Belgian international had arrived at Stamford Bridge from Marseille in the summer of 2016 for a fee for a reported £33.2 million. Since then, he has played 66 times in all competitions and has been involved in 30 goals.

What do we think?

Palace have scored the second-lowest number of goals in the Premier League this season, finding the back of the net only 11 times so far. That is more than only relegation-threatened Watford.

This makes it clear that the club is in need of goals. And while Giroud would be a very good option, but his wage demands could be bigger than what Palace can afford. But Batshuayi has been at Selhurst Park and did a very good job. This could force him into lowering his wage demands.
