Arsenal Head Coach Unai Emery has confirmed Granit Xhaka will not take part in this weekend’s fixture versus Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.  Speaking to the media, Emery said “it’s not in my mind he will play tomorrow”.

Of course, the fallout from the 27-year-old’s recent outburst on the pitch against Crystal Palace has thrown his future at the club into doubt, whilst it remains to be seen as to how well the message he posted via the club’s official Twitter account was received.

However, following the announcement by Emery, Arsenal fans have taken to social media to share their thoughts and it’s safe to say sympathy for the captain is hard to come by.

What do we think?

The sooner Xhaka faces the Emirates crowd the sooner everybody can move past this unsavoury incident. When the Swiss midfielder does eventually return there will no doubt be a mixed reception, and so by leaving him out, Emery is simply delaying the inevitable.

The vile abuse the 27-year-old  has been subjected to in recent weeks has been condemned by most Arsenal supporters but that doesn’t change the fact the general consensus is that he’s simply not good enough. As a result, it’s difficult to see how Xhaka could ever have a good career in north London.
