Héctor Bellerín has charmed fans into supporting him to be the new club captain, as a video went viral of the player giving his coat to a young mascot.
Arsenal posted the video on their official Twitter account of the stand-in captain handing his warm-up coat to the young mascot before their Carabao Cup tie with Liverpool.
The Gunners ended up drawing the tie 5-5 on an entertaining Wednesday evening in Anfield but eventually lost out on penalties, due to Bellerín’s fellow Spaniard Dani Ceballos missing his spot-kick.
Fans were quick to jump onto Twitter to share their appreciation for the player’s generous act.

This is a how true football player should be. Cares for the fans, loves the club and tries his best everytime he pulls the shirt on. Fans see that and respect him for it.

What do we think?
Bellerín showed a selfless act by handing his coat over to the young mascot. Yes, the cameras were on. Yes, the captaincy issue is a contentious issue at the moment. Should he get the armband permanently? Honestly, it’s hard to say. The 24-year-old is a long-serving player and knows the club better than most there. But since the current incumbent Granit Xhaka has not had it taken away from him just yet, maybe it’s fair to say that the Spaniard may just have to sit tight for now, should he want the role on a full-time basis.
