Everton: Farhad Moshiri unsure on appointing David Moyes

|

Everton’s owner, Farhad Moshiri, is unsure on appointing David Moyes as the club’s new manager, according to Football Insider.

Reportedly, the club’s Iranian owner does not share the support for the Scot that the Toffees’ chairman, Bill Kenwright, does.

Not in the interest of the fans

Rumours have been swirling over the past couple of days that the 56-year-old was set to be appointed and then, a day later, that Marco Silva will be given time at Goodison Park (via Sky Sports).

However, the report suggests that while Moshiri knows that Moyes would be a safe pair of hands, he would not be the most popular choice with supporters (via Football Insider).

Alongside the Scotsman, a number of potential names have been drawn up, consisting of Eddie Howe, Mark Hughes, Jorge Jesus and Mikel Arteta (via The Express).

It has also been suggested that Moyes would provide Everton with the short-term stability that they desperately need (via Daily Mail).

However, while that may be true, a long-term goal is also vital for the Toffees as they should be looking to break into the ‘big six’ at some point in the future (per Liverpool Echo).

Of course, the Toffees are in need of improvements right away, but they don’t want to make an appointment that could put them back in trouble later down the line.

So, the club’s board now has a big decision to make and it simply cannot be rushed.
