Nottingham Forest star Yohan Benalouane has hinted about a potential first-team return through an image that he posted on social media.

The former Leicester City defender has not featured for the club since the end of last season when he had sustained a back injury which has left him sidelined since the arrived of Sabri Lamouchi.

The 32-year-old has posted an image on Instagram, which shows that he has returned to training with the first-team.

Much needed cover

Benalouane played regularly for the club in the second half of last season, playing 14 times in the Championship for Forest. He also scored once for the club during this time.

The centre-back arrived at the City Ground from Leicester City in the winter of 2019 earlier this year. He had joined for an undisclosed fee, signing an 18-month-long contract at the club.

For the Foxes, Benalouane had played only 29 times in the first-team. He had also played four times in their march to the Premier League in the 2015-16 season.

The Tunisian has also played in Italy with Parma, Cesena and Atalanta, also having plied his trade with Saint-Etienne in Ligue 1.

TIF Tactics

Benalouane has shown some versatility in his career in the past. While he is a centre-back originally, the defender has the capability to play on either side of the defence too. He can do a job at left-back or at right-back too.

Considering how important he was for the side at the end of last season, he will likely play a key role when he plays regularly once again. Joe Worrall and Michael Dawson have been regulars in that position, but Benalouane brings a huge amount of strength to the backline.

For someone as experienced as him, he has already done enough to play.
