Leeds United’s Polish midfielder Mateusz Klich recently signed a new deal, which is now reported to be worth £5m according to Football Insider.

Klich has already played 1350 minutes this season across 16 matches and has an average WhoScored rating of 6.86/10. On Saturday 16th November, the 29-year-old came on in the 70th minute in Poland’s 2-1 win against Israel.

According to Football Insider, Klich “has agreed a contract worth more than £20,000-a-week.” A figure which is likely higher than maybe expected because he has started every game for Leeds so far this season.

TIF Tactics – Where does that put Klich in the standings?

Basing that reported figure into an annual figure at a base rate, the international midfielder could be earning around £1.04m a year (more than double what he is on currently), which would then make him level with fellow midfield colleague Adam Forshaw as the joint fourth-highest earner at Elland Road, according to the data collected by Capology.

The 29-year-old has scored one goal and has managed one assist in his Championship appearances this season. Although that doesn’t sound that impressive, Marcelo Bielsa is likely to be impressed with the midfielders stamina and ability to play many games in a season. However, Klich averages 15 passes every 30 minutes, which is great for holding possession during a match.

Verdict

If the rumours about the wages are true, then it’s fully justified by the number of games and minutes Klich has played for Leeds already this season. We doubt any of this will go to his head as he doesn’t seem that type of character, so hopefully the 29-year-old can continue to play at his current level for the remainder of his contract.
