When speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Mateusz Klich has expressed how much he’s been enjoying the game time and how he could “play as many games as we have to.

Klich has played the fifth-highest amount of minutes in the Leeds United squad with 1350 so far this season. The 29-year-old has been extremely consistent during the large number of matches and minutes he’s played, averaging a rating of 6.86/10 and a pass success percentage of 82.6% – as per WhoScored.

Long passes are not something that the 29-year-old likes to do, with Klich completing just 33 so far this season compared to the 538 completed short passes.

The Polish midfielder has praised the faith shown in him by manager Marcelo Bielsa, when speaking to the Yorkshire Evening Post he said: “I really enjoy the trust from Marcelo, he really trusts me and I play every game. That’s what I need, trust from my manager, so I can show my skills.”

TIF Tactics – How Mateusz Klich affects Leeds United

In Klich’s last league match against Blackburn, he completed 46 passes with three of them being key passes, which equals an 87% pass success rate. So it’s clear to see that the 29-year-old is a huge part of Bielsa’s midfield, which is obvious when looking at the number of minutes the Polish midfielder has been playing lately, with Klich playing the full 90 minutes in nine out of the last 10 Championship games.

His lowest pass completion percentage was against Nottingham Forrest, a game in which he only completed 70% of his attempted passes that day. Two out of the three lowest pass success rates came against 4-4-2 formations, with the highest of 91.8% coming against Charlton and their 4-2-3-1 structure in September.

Verdict

It’s good to see Klich is enjoying Bielsa’s demanding brand of football and the trust that the Argentine has given him has also been rewarded. Klich has the 10th highest WhoScored average rating in the Leeds squad, which shows he plays to a consistent but not always outstanding level. Nevertheless, should he be injured or suspended, the 29-year-old would be a huge miss for Bielsa, so maybe the Polish midfielder needs a little rest just for one game?
