Jackie McNamara had positive news surrounding Rangers’ Glen Kamara and the potential for him to be playing at Leeds United – when speaking to Football Insider.

When Football Insider asked McNamara if Kamara could play for Leeds, his response was extremely positive saying: “Yeah, definitely. I think he’s done well at Rangers anyway. Time will tell if it’s the right one, the right move, and if he’s good enough for Leeds.” It’s interesting to see that he’s speaking about Leeds as if it’s a step up in class; perhaps McNamara is expecting the Peacocks to be playing in the Premier League very soon.

The pundit also believes Kamara should ‘have no trouble fitting in at Elland Road‘ and mentioned the fact that he’s already ‘demonstrated his great energy and dynamism at Ibrox.’  The 24-year-old has been very impressive in the UEFA Europa League this season, averaging a WhoScored rating of 6.61/10 in the 352 minutes that he’s played in the contest.

The Finnish midfielder’s most standout game was against Porto, where he kept a pass success ratio of 93% and saw plenty of the ball with 50 touches. Kamara isn’t someone who will be bagging himself a ton of goals, as he is yet to score in the Scottish Premiership so far this season, whilst he also hasn’t managed to get an assist, but these should be expected considering he’s a defensive-minded midfielder.

Verdict

Kamara, who is valued at £675k (Transfermarkt), could be a great signing for Leeds, especially if they completed the move while still in the Championship. That would also give the midfielder time to find his feet with Marcelo Bielsa’s training style and the squad. You aren’t going to see big numbers from the Finn when looking in the goals and assists charts, but he will be able to tighten up the defence in the midfield and would likely work wonders alongside the likes of Kalvin Phillips, Adam Forshaw and Mateusz Klich in the middle.
