Leeds United’s Eddie Nketiah is said to be ‘unlikely’ to play against Luton – according to a report by Football Insider.

Nketiah is yet to start for Leeds this season, however, he has managed to score three times in the Championship so far this season. The 20-year-old’s only two starts came in the League Cup, which he took full advantage of by scoring two goals.

A Leeds source has told Football Insider: “Nketiah is unlikely to be in contention for the clash at Kenilworth Road this weekend,” which is awful news for any fans hoping for the youngster to get a shot at starting on Saturday.

The 20-year-old doesn’t like to pass the ball much, with Nketiah averaging just 5.8 passes per game in the Championship, however, scoring three goals in just 12 shots all season proves just how clinical this young man is. Only two out of the 12 shots were taken outside of the box, with four of them taken inside the six-yard box, which are all amazing stats considering he’s only played 265 minutes of Championship football.

Verdict

This is a big blow for Leeds considering Nketiah has never started in the league, however, this means the Peacocks have lost their only other natural striker as an alternative to Patrick Bamford, but they do have players that can be versatile if needed. When the 20-year-old is fit again, we would like to see some starts come his way as he’s really done nothing wrong, as the only two times he’s started were in the League Cup and from those he scored twice.
