Just before the halftime whistle, Steven Gerrard replaced injured Brandon Barker with Ryan Kent. While the player didn’t get himself a goal, he still managed to entertain the fans with some lovely bits of skill.
One clip in particular, shared by Rangers’ Twitter account, caught fans’ attention. As Motherwell defender Liam Grimshaw went in to make a crunching slide tackle, Kent simply spun around to send the player sliding away. Fans expressed their delight at the player’s performance, while another fan praised the technical prowess of the Englishman.

The difference when he came on was night and day.
His stop, start and quick acceleration is lethal.

One fan teased Grimshaw, calling him a UFC thug for going into the tackle so aggressively.
Lovely. Spins away from that Motherwell UFC thug, who tried to snap his leg but instead needed a ticket to get back in the ground.

What do we think?
Although he will be concerned for his teammate Barker, Kent will have been thrilled to play over a half of football after coming on as a sub. Should he be fully fit, Kent will be hoping to play regular football under Gerrard as the team search for their 55th league title.
Indeed, if the 22-year-old can replicate the form that saw him named the PFA Scotland’s Young Player of the Year Award winner, the Gers will certainly feel as though they are in with a good chance of doing so.
