It was a tight affair as the Rangers Youth Academy knocked out Sohihull in the Scottish Challenge Cup. The game finished 3-3 after Eros Grezda equalized in the 84th minute, scoring his second goal of the match. The six-goal thriller was topped off with an exciting penalty shootout in which Rangers managed to win 4-3 (BBC).

Fans of the Gers took to Twitter to congratulate the lads who could someday pull on a first-team shirt at Ibrox, if they haven’t already. One fan praised the work of Graeme Murty and his team. Another pointed out that the youth team managed to pull out a win, despite having most of the club’s young talent out on loan.

Other fans encouraged the club to let the team play at Ibrox during the next round of the cup, suggesting that the young lads have done enough to play in front of a bigger crowd. These fans hope to get the stadium packed and show the team some extra support in their next game.

What do we think?

The young bears are set to play Wrexham in the next phase of the cup. With the Welsh side travelling to Glasgow for the semi-finals, some members of the Rangers staff have also confirmed their desires to have the game played at Ibrox (rangersnews.uk).
