Spurs fans took to Twitter to congratulate South Korean winger Heung-Min Son on making 200 appearances for the North London club, with many raving about the 27-year-old’s importance to the squad.

Son, who signed from Bayer Leverkusen in 2015, has become a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s squad; scoring 44 goals and providing 21 assists in 144 Premier League appearances. Sunday’s loss against Liverpool marked the winger’s 200th competitive appearance in a Spurs shirt in what is now his fifth season with the club.

Son has started this season in a similar fashion to the previous three, having hit five goals for Spurs in all competitions, despite the winger missing the start of the season in order to participate in the Asian Games. Victory in the tournament was good news for Spurs fans, as it means that Son and his fellow South Korean internationals will avoid the 21 months mandatory military service.

The former Leverkusen man was one of several key figures in Spurs reaching the Champions League final last year, with Son hitting an important brace in their quarter-final triumph over Manchester City. Spurs fans will certainly be hoping that the winger will be adding another 200 appearances to his name at Spurs, considering recent rumours linking Son to a move abroad.

When Spurs’ official club Twitter posted a video of Son’s best moments in his time as a Tottenham player, fans flooded the replies with praise for the South Korean.

Some of the best reactions from Spurs fans to the video of Son can be seen in the tweets below.

These tweets clearly show the love Spurs fans have for Heung-Min Son and demonstrate that a lot of, if not all, Spurs fans would be devastated if the 27-year-old were to leave the North London club.

What do we think?

Son has become a huge part of the way Spurs play in recent years, and looks to be just as important this season, with a 31% goal participation in the current campaign. The winger is currently valued at £72 million by Transfermarkt, but you would expect Spurs to ask for a significant amount more than that should there be interest in Son in the upcoming transfer windows. He is a great player and Spurs fans will rightly be hoping that the South Korean international stays with them for the foreseeable future.
