Spurs fans have taken to Twitter to voice their frustrations with manager Mauricio Pochettino, after Sunday’s loss against Liverpool leaves them with just 12 points from the opening 10 games.

The result means that Spurs sit in 11th position, having won just three games in the Premier League this season and fans are far from happy with their Argentinian coach. Since taking over in 2014, Pochettino has led Spurs to consistent top-five finishes, finishing inside those places in each of the last four seasons.

There can be no doubt that Pochettino has taken the club from a top-half club to arguably one of the best team’s in the league, but he has been unable to end Spurs’ trophy drought, with their last honour coming in 2008 with a League Cup win. This drought was of course extended in May when Spurs lost out to Liverpool in the Champions League final.

Since then, there have been several suggestions that the 47-year-old manager has taken Spurs as far as he can (see BT Sport 0:16-onwards) and it seems as if fans of the club are beginning to agree. Pochettino signed a new five-year contract in 2018 so it could cost Daniel Levy a substantial amount should he want to terminate the Argentinian’s contract, but if poor results continue, he may be left with little choice.

Some reactions from Spurs fans to Pochettino following the Liverpool loss can be seen in the tweets below:

These tweets clearly show that some Spurs fans are beginning to lose patience with their manager, suggesting that his team selections and post-match press comments are that of a man who “doesn’t much care”.

What do we think?

Pochettino should be treated as a hero by Spurs fans for taking them to the Champions League final this year and probably should have opted to leave for another club after that defeat. Spurs fans’ opinions of the Argentinian manager will continue to be tarnished should their poor start to the season continue.

Pochettino has won 159 of his 290 matches in charge of the Lilywhites, which represents an impressive record as Spurs boss, but it seems as if now is the right time for him to move on, with Pochettino reportedly having lost the dressing room following recent results.
