Spurs fans were full of praise for 17-year-old Troy Parrott on Twitter recently, as the young striker received his first full international call up for the Republic of Ireland.
The Spurs man was named in Mick McCarthy’s squad ahead of upcoming games against New Zealand and Denmark; in which he could line up against fellow Spurs man Christian Eriksen. It is Parrott’s first senior call-up, which he has earned after scoring an impressive three goals in his first three games for Stephen Kenny’s Under-21 squad.
Parrott grabbed the headlines amongst Spurs fans recently, after scoring four goals in their emphatic 9-2 win over Red Star in the UEFA Youth League. This, combined with Parrott’s call-up to the national team, has left many Spurs fans wondering why the youngster is yet to feature in the Premier League for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
Some of the best reactions from Spurs fans to the news of Parrott’s call-up can be seen in the tweets below.
A star in the making buy will he get an early look into the spurs main team I don’t know by history it took Winks and Peters far too long to get on the first team. Skipp and Parrot need an early induction if not rather loan them to play regularly

These tweets clearly show that the vast majority of Spurs fans believe Parrott is ready to make an impact in the Premier League, despite his tender age.
What do we think?
Parrott has started the season in scintillating form for the youth side, but Spurs fans seem keen to forget the minimal impact the striker had when he made his full Spurs debut last month, in the Carabao Cup exit to League Two side Colchester United. However, Spurs’ reliance on Harry Kane seems clear for all to see, with the England forward having scored 10 goals in all competitions for a struggling Spurs already this season. Therefore, it may not be too long until Parrott begins to see some Premier League action, even if it is to just allow Kane some rest.
