Some fans have taken to Twitter in the wake of Liverpool’s 2-1 win over Spurs at the weekend to praise captain Jordan Henderson for his game-changing contributions.
The skipper scored his first Liverpool goal of the season with a well-timed volley, in a display that impressed many watching supporters. Henderson has been a central figure in the side of late, but if there’s one criticism that can be levelled at the 29-year-old, it is that he doesn’t contribute with as many goals as he perhaps should do.
However, he rectified that on Sunday evening with a sublime finish to make it 1-1, and his crucial impact on the game didn’t go unnoticed by some Liverpool fans:

Was I the only one who saw Henderson performing better than Wijnaldum?

One supporter on Twitter even described his goal as being ‘Gerrard-esque’, which relates to Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard, who made a whopping 710 appearances at Anfield.
You won’t see a better struck goal then Henderson’s for a while..Gerrard-Esque #LFC

Other fans meanwhile, were keen to point out how Henderson was a man reborn at half-time, after a disappointing first period:
funny how every fan has to eat his words on henderson after half time.

Those commented “Hendo off! Hendo off!” at half-time should make apology to Hendo right now! hahaha.

Henderson in second half – HERO— Avi (@Avi23020) October 27, 2019
The England international ended the game as Liverpool’s best performer, achieving a superb 8.0 rating from WhoScored as the home side went on to take all three points.
What we think
With places not assured in a competitive looking Liverpool midfield, the captain will surely be delighted to have delivered an all-important, match-winning goal and display. The finish was confident and assured, coming at a crucial time in the match to set up a thrilling finale. The performance will take some of the pressure off Henderson, who will surely be feeling Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita breathing down his neck, following impressive cameos in the Champions League.
