If fans thought they had seen the back of Loris Karius, they may just have been mistaken. The German stopper has been on loan at Besiktas for the past two seasons, but a recent downturn in form could just see the Turkish outfit cut that spell short by 6 months.
A report from Takvim (via The Mirror) has claimed that Karius could be returning the Merseyside as soon as January. However, as The Mirror points out, should Karius return, he would likely find himself well down the pecking order as the 3rd or 4th choice stopper at the club.
The news was therefore met with predictable apathy:
Besiktas want to try and send Loris Karius back to Liverpool in January and cut his two year loan deal short.
Although Karius hasn’t given up hope of playing for the Reds again, he would find himself as third or fourth choice at Anfield. [The Mirror]https://t.co/kngiX6inon

For some supporters, it was a case of sending him anywhere but Anfield:
Send him to Madrid COURTOIS needs a break.

If he couldn’t make it in Besiktas then he doesn’t have a future in England

What we think
Unfortunately for Karius, it does appear that any return to Liverpool, early or not, wouldn’t yield first-team appearances anytime soon. While some of the replies to the news were predictably harsh, the element of truth within is that his days at Liverpool are soon to be over. Indeed, it’s highly unlikely that the impressive duo of Alisson Becker and Adrian are going to be threatened any time soon.
For his career to be resurrected, he will surely have to start afresh, away from derision in England, and away from the hostile cauldrons of Turkish football.
