Some Aston Villa fans have been reacting on social media to a tweet shared by the Villans official Twitter account reflecting on their form ahead of facing Manchester City.
The Villans face the Sky Blues having recorded back-to-back wins against Brighton & Hove Albion and Norwich City, which have seen the Birmingham-based outfit score a combined seven goals.
Dean Smith’s men have also only lost once in their last five Premier League games, to rank fifth in the form table, just one point worse off than Saturday’s opponent.
City have suffered two defeats in their last five top-flight fixtures, meanwhile, as Pep Guardiola’s title-holders fell victim to surprise results against Norwich and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
On both occasions, the Etihad Stadium natives bounced back to take all three points in their next league clash, as they followed defeat at Carrow Road with a resounding 8-0 win over Watford and followed losing at home to Wolves with a 2-0 triumph at Crystal Palace.
Villa sharing that they have taken just one fewer points than the reigning Premier League Champions has seen some of their fans share slight optimism heading into their trip to Manchester on Saturday, with one suggesting that is should be easy. Another has shared that eight points from a possible 15 to City’s nine is ‘one hell of a positive’.
Here are some of the messages shared…

Among the reactions offered, some Villa fans are not quite sure how to anticipate Saturday’s fixture going.
One has suggested they are ‘fully prepared’ to lose at the Etihad Stadium this weekend, but feels there is a possibility of a favourable result as Smith has a team that could challenge Guardiola’s.
Another has shared that they do not know how to feel looking at the form table, where only Liverpool and Chelsea have taken drastically more points.
Massively excited for this one. Fully prepared for a loss…but…we finally have a team that maybe, possibly, just could do something great. UTV

But while there are plenty of fans optimistic in Villa’s chances against Man City, the Citizens recently hitting Watford for eight has left a lot of supporters expecting a heavy drubbing on Saturday afternoon.
Some fans expect Guardiola’s charges to score upwards of six goals against Smith’s men, which could make it Villa’s biggest defeat against the Sky Blues in their history, eclipsing a previous 5-0 loss in 2013, and four 4-0 defeats (TransferMarkt).
Villa’s heaviest loss in club history came against Chelsea in the 2012/13 Premier League campaign, when the Stamford Bridge natives won 8-0 (TransferMarkt).
