Rangers fans have taken to Twitter to express their delight at Alfredo Morelos for his performance against St. Johnstone on Sunday.

The Gers came away with a 4-0 win but not before a laboured first-half performance.

During that spell, Morelos was guilty of missing a couple of decent opportunities, and should perhaps have played in teammates in more promising positions on occasion too.

But he turned it on in the second half with a wonderful strike in which he picked the defender’s pocket, rolled his man, and finished with great composure.

Connor Goldson added a second just after the hour mark and Jermain Defoe added a brace late on.

And it wasn’t long before the Ibrox faithful began to express their admiration for the 23-year-old.

Here are some of the best tweets from supporters.

It can sometimes be hard to know where to draw the line when it comes to critiquing a forward.

Obviously, to an extent, you want a single-minded, ruthless player upfront when you are pushing for silverware.

There is no doubting that Morelos has those traits about him.

Prior to his goal against St. Johnstone, he had hit a goal every 77 minutes for the Gers so far this term, as per Transfermarkt, and he shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

That’s now 12 in 15 for him in all competitions so far this term, and if he can continue in this current vein of form that he is mining, not only will he surely be a shoo-in for player of the year again (last season he won Player of the Year and Players’ Player of the Year), but he could also push the Gers mightily close to the Premiership title.

The key for him, as it always has been, will be keeping his head and not needlessly missing matches because of ill-discipline.

Last term, he missed 10 games through suspension, as per Transfermarkt, and that prolonged period of absences was arguably enough to derail his best form in a blue shirt.

This year, however, he is yet to pick up a yellow card in the Scottish Premiership, and the hope will be that he has finally turned a corner once and for all.
