West Brom could appoint Slaven Bilic as their new manager this week, according to the Express & Star.

The newspaper claims that if Albion can agree terms with the 50-year-old, they should be able to announce him as Darren Moore’s permanent successor within the next seven days.

It is understood that both parties are eager to reach an agreement, with Bilic keen to return to English football after being sacked by West Ham in 2017.

OPINION

West Brom fans should be very happy about this update. Not only would hiring Bilic be a great appointment by Mark Jenkins and Luke Dowling, but finally ending their drawn-out manager hunt will be a major boost and hopefully kick start their summer preparations. It has been way too long since West Brom’s season ended and James Shan was relieved of his role as interim manager. Since then it seems like hundreds of managers have been linked with The Hawthorns vacancy. However they do appear to have settled on Bilic now, who would surely be a great man to hire. West Brom are set to undergo a massive change this summer and they need an experienced manager to oversee that. Bilic had great success at West Ham and only really lost his job there due to the club’s controversial move to the London Stadium and the lack of financial backing by the owners. If Jenkins and Guochuan Lai back Bilic, West Brom can win promotion next season.
