Dutch football expert Marcel van der Kraan has said that Ajax star Donny van de Beek wants to move to the Premier League this summer and that Tottenham is one of his preferred destinations.

Talking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show (Monday, 7am), van der Kraan said, “van de Beek has his eyes set on the Premier League. He is a proper Premier League player with an Ajax education and can play in many positions in midfield.

“He wants a move to Man United or Spurs and his agent says if that materialises that would be right up his street.”

OPINION

Tottenham are looking to spend money this summer and Pochettino has previously said that he’d only sign players who would improve his side. Van de Beek is a player who would do just that, especially if Christian Eriksen leaves this summer. The attacking sensation been involved in 30 goals this season – scoring 17 and adding 13 assists – and Spurs know all about him after he scored against them in the semi-finals of the Champions League. The 22-year-old Netherlands international is exactly the sort of player who would slot straight into the Spurs set-up. He’s young, has his best years ahead of him and is already at top Premier League level. Under Pochettino he could go on to be a real world star. It was reported before the £43million would get the job done this summer but with Man United possibly in the frame too, that could be heading upwards and that could be a potential problem for Tottenham.
