Tottenham’s leadership has met with Real Madrid central midfielder Dani Ceballos, according to Sky Sports Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.

The Italian reporter has claimed via his website that Spurs are eyeing up a number of players this summer and Ceballos, 22, is someone that interests the North London club.

El Desmarque has recently reported that Spurs are “willing to spend” up to £43.9million on signing the Spain international, who could be offloaded by Zinedine Zidane this summer as Real Madrid face an overhaul after a disappointing season.

Good move for Tottenham?

Ceballos is one of many Real Madrid players who did not have a great season at the Bernabeu, however that does not mean that he is not good enough for Tottenham.

Mauricio Pochettino needs to add to his squad this summer, especially in the central midfield area, and Ceballos is someone who has a lot of potential that is just waiting to be unlocked by a good manager like the Argentine.

Spurs are also said to have Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Ceslo on their list of midfield targets this summer, and while Ceballos is a good player, he probably isn’t as good as either of them.

If Spurs fail to land Ndombele and Lo Celso, then they might be forced into a move for Ceballos, despite him not being as good as what appear to be their main targets.

Likely to happen?

Spurs are in Madrid at the moment as they prepare for the Champions League final against Liverpool, so there is a good chance that the London club has taken this opportunity to send some of their recruitment chiefs to the Bernabeu to seek talks about Ceballos.

It might be a costly move for Spurs because according to the Mirror, there is a whopping £443million release clause in the 22-year-old’s deal.

However Tottenham should be able to get him for far less than that, and also far cheaper than Ndombele and Lo Celso.
