OPINION
Christian Eriksen reportedly told Tottenham that he wanted to leave the club this summer just 10 days before the Champions League final and understandably, there are many fans on Twitter who have gone berserk after seeing the news. Evening Standard journalist Dan Kilpatrick reported via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday that Eriksen’s comments to Ekstrabladet did not come out of the blue when he made public his desire to move on from Spurs this summer. Daniel Levy and Mauricio Pochettino would have known of Eriksen’s desire before the Champions League final and in hindsight, the Denmark international should not have played because he was anonymous against Liverpool and his failure to perform was one of the seasons why the Reds won. Tottenham fans are furious with the midfielder and so they should be. Why couldn’t he just wait until after the final? It was the biggest game of his career and one of the biggest in Tottenham’s history. He has disrespected the club.

Can't possibly be the case, I think Poch would have benched him. If true however, then he's a disgrace. https://t.co/HCpdMeIbcQ
