We’re only in June, but if you had a pound for every time you’ve heard a piece of transfer speculation pertaining to Tottenham, you could probably afford to buy one of their reported targets yourself.

Spurs need to sign players this summer, that much is as plain as the nose on your face.

Two windows without any additions have left Mauricio Pochettino’s men looking threadbare and heavily understaffed in several key areas.

The incredible achievements of this season have papered over that fact to some extent, but the truth is that the Argentine needs some help from those above him, and he needs it quickly.

One area that desperately needs reinforcements is the centre of the park.

With Moussa Dembele leaving in January, and with the possibility of Christian Eriksen following him out of the exit door looking evermore likely, Pochettino will need new options in the engine room.

One name that has been brought up with a decent amount of consistency and reliability is Bruno Fernandes, as reported by the Daily Star.

The Portuguese star hit 32 goals in all competitions this term, and has been heavily linked with a move to north London.

The big red spanner in the works, however, as been the reported interest of Manchester United, as outlined by the Express.

The understanding up until this point has been that United would launch a rival bid for the 24-year-old, but that assertion appears to be in doubt.

According to the latest report from Portuguese outlet O Jogo, as cited by Sports Witness, United head honcho Ed Woodward is “hesitant” about making a move for the midfielder, and that the club are showing “indecision” over a move.

If this is true, then Daniel Levy must not hesitate to act.

Fernandes has the potential to be a world beater, and United’s loss could be Spurs’ gain.

Levy must act fast to pull off a major coup.
