OPINION
Borna Barisic has divided opinion at Ibrox so far during his spell at Rangers. The Croatian signed from NK Osijek last summer, but so far hasn’t quite lived up to expectations. Injuries haven’t been kind to the full-back, but when he has played many supporters have been less than impressed. There are those looking to write him off already, whereas others are hoping that given a bit of time and true, he could still come good for the Blues. On the international scene, however, there are no such doubts. The 26-year-old was given the nod by his country to face Wales on Saturday, and it was decision that left many Gers fans baffled. For what it’s worth, there looks to be a player in there somewhere. Whether that talent will ever come to the fore in Scotland, where he has looked completely uncomfortable and unwilling at times, is hard to say, but certainly, you would hope that with the added confidence of international recognition under his belt, he can kick on and become an important player for the Gers. Whatever happens, if we’re still having this kind of discussion in a year’s time, expect him to shifted on, regardless of his promise.
