West Ham have activated Fenerbahce defender Hasan Ali Kaldirim’s release clause ahead of a summer move, according to TRT Sports.

The Turkish TV Station, as relayed by Ajansspor, claims that the Turkish full-back will join the Hammers ahead of the next Premier League season.

Kaldirim was first linked with a move to the London Stadium on Monday, amid reports that the left-back holds a release clause of only £4.4million, with Manuel Pellegrini readying to reshape the club this summer.

The 29-year-old has 30-caps for Turkey and would bring a wealth of experience to West Ham, after making 226 appearances in total for the Turkish giants.

Good move for West Ham?

If the Hammers can secure Kaldirim’s signature then they would be gaining a defender full of experience for a bargain price. Arthur Masuaku and Aaron Cresswell have both failed to impress at the London Stadium, with Masuaku imparticular impressing more in a more advanced role.

The introduction of Kaldirim would be a smart piece of business with the club potentially being able to sell one of their current full-backs for a higher price than the reported £4.4m it would take to sign the Fenerbahce player.

To receive a player that has 30 international caps and hundreds of domestic appearances under his belt for so cheap could turn into a Pellegrini masterstroke.

Likely to happen?

With the release clause reportedly met by West Ham, all that is left to take place now is for the club to agree personal terms for Kaldirim after he finishes international duty for Turkey.

Should that happen, West Ham fans can expect to see a new left-back at the club in the coming weeks, with a potential sale to go along with it.
