Ryan Kent is likely to stay in England next season, according to reliable journalist Alan Nixon.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Rangers, with the Scottish club being heavily linked with a move to take him back to Ibrox next term, as reported by the Daily Record.

But Nixon is not so sure that the Gers will get their way.

When asked about their chances of landing the winger on Twitter, Nixon said: “Think he stays in England this time”.

OPINION

Rangers fans will be hoping that Nixon is wrong about this one. Kent was on of their hey figures last season, and most supporters will have been hanging their hopes of next campaign on the club being able to snap him up again. From a Liverpool perspective, you can see arguments both for and against letting him go back to Scotland. On the one hand, he did so well last year, learning from a certified legend in Steven Gerrard, that it makes sense to send him back to Ibrox. On the other hand, the next logical step in his progression is to send him to the Premier League and see how he gets on in England. You suspect that if it were anybody else, that is exactly what Jurgen Klopp would choose to do, but given that it’s Gerrard asking the favour, perhaps the German could be persuaded to make an exception.
