While Celtic fans themselves would hate to admit it the Hoops are a selling club, relying on exciting but cheap signings funded by big money exits to further the club.

The likes of Victor Wanyama, Virgil van Dijk, Fraser Forster and most recently Moussa Dembele have all shone in the green and white hoops during their time in Glasgow before moving on for a sizeable transfer fee, which has then been invested into getting the next big thing on board.

Dembele is the ultimate acquisition for the Bhoys, arriving for a compensation free from Fulham before leaving for a record breaking amount last summer – and they could look to repeat their success this summer.

The Daily Mail report that the Hoops are not only chasing but leading the way for Bolton Wanderers starlet Luca Connell, the teenage midfielder making waves at the recently relegated north west side.

There is said to be plenty of interest for the youngster, who has been given a taste of training among the Republic of Ireland international side, and that Bolton are keen to get a decent fee to help allay their financial fears.

Unfortunately for the Trotters, it is stated that a club outside England could get him on board for as little as £240,000 worth of compensation at the end of his contract – which is exactly how Celtic got Dembele on board.

Even if Celtic barely played him next season, the interest built during his time at Bolton would see his value at least hit seven figures and if he were to play and impress then the price is just going to expand exponentially.

Connell is a goldmine waiting to happen for the Hoops and they must be doing everything they can to convince him to join. Bargains like this just do not come around all that often.
