Celtic are an absolute behemoth, and have been for a ridiculous amount of time now.

The Hoops celebrated an eighth consecutive league title and a third straight treble this season, and you wouldn’t bet against them continuing that run for a while longer.

Their form might have dipped a little when Neil Lennon took the reins in the aftermath of Brendan Rodgers’ departure, but the fact that they still had enough to get over the line in their historic hunt for glory shows just how far ahead of the chasing pack they still are.

But the gap is getting smaller.

Rangers looked genuinely dangerous for the first half of last season, and if it wasn’t for a lack of strength in depth, they might have pushed the Hoops closer in the title race.

You can expect Steven Gerrard’s men to kick on again in this transfer window, and because of that, Celtic must be ready to react.

The signs are that the plans are already in place to do just that, with the Daily Record reporting that they have stepped up their efforts to land Motherwell midfielder David Turnbull.

The 19-year-old has hit 16 goals in all competitions this season, and assisted seven more, and on the face of it would be a brilliant capture for the Bhoys.

He is young and affordable, with a fee in the region of £3 million being touted, and his signature would be a fantastic first step towards ensuring that the club’s dominance is preserved next season.

Turnbull must be taken to Parkhead.
