The Celtic hierarchy are excited by the potential of January signing Marian Shved, according to Football Insider.

The 21-year-old was brought in for £2million by ex-Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers at the start of the year, before immediately being sent back on loan to complete the season at former club Kaparty.

Football Insider claim that a Celtic source has hailed Shved – who scored 15 goals in 26 games for the Ukrainian side last term – as a “diamond” whose value could potentially increase exponentially in the future.

OPINION

Whoever this source is, they have certainly made a very good prediction about Shved’s value going up and up in the next few years. Things have been kept on the down-low as far as the player’s recent performances go, with Shved quietly racking up an impressive tally of goals for Kaparty and growing in confidence with every game. And now that he has also been called up to the senior Ukraine squad for the second time, the attacker will have added belief that he can make a real name for himself at Parkhead. And why not? There are plenty of other players that have flourished in the past at Celtic, and, based on Shved’s current ability, you wouldn’t bet against him following suit. To do this, however, the 21-year-old must hit the ground running in a Hoops shirt, as he is certainly not guaranteed to get regular game time straight away.
