West Bromwich Albion are still yet to agree terms with Slaven Bilic to become the club’s new permanent manager this summer, according to journalist Alan Nixon.

The Sun journalist, on his personal Twitter account on Saturday, revealed that West Brom have not been able to agree terms with Bilic yet and planted a seed of doubt in their pursuit, suggesting that it might be difficult for the Baggies to reach an agreement in response to a supporter,

He wrote: “If they can agree terms. And that’s been a big if with many.”

Bilic has emerged as the front runner for the permanent manager’s job at West Brom this summer, according to the Express and Star, but Nixon’s update suggests there is still details over the potential contract the Baggies could offer the former West Ham manager that need to be sorted out.

OPINION

Nixon’s update suggests that there is still much to be decided before West Brom can appoint a new permanent successor to Darren Moore this summer. The journalists revelation also casts some potential doubt as to whether West Brom can manage to come to an agreement with Bilic that will allow the Croatian to take over at the Hawthorns next season. Bilic has emerged as the club’s number choice and he could be the ideal manager to help West Brom challenge for promotion back to the Premier League next term, following the Baggies missing out in promotion last season. The Croatian has a lot of experience in English football having managed West Ham and overseeing their move from Upton Park to the London Stadium, however Bilic does not have much experience of the Championship which is a notoriously difficult league to compete in. That has not held back other teams recently though, with Norwich City winning the league last season with Daniel Farke in charge in his first full campaign managing in the Championship. West Brom fans will be hopeful the club can swiftly sort out an agreement with Bilic or another manager so the club can start planning for next season.
