West Ham have offered £15 million for Andre Gomes, and Barcelona could accept, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The 6’1″ ace [Transfermarkt] spent last year on loan at Everton, but it is understood that the Toffees have cooled their interest in bringing him in on a permanent deal.

Writing on his personal Twitter, Nixon wrote: “West Ham. Offered 15 for Andre Gomes. Barcelona may accept.

“Everton not pushing as hard as expected after year on loan.”

Good move for West Ham?

This is great news. Gomes proved last year that he is a top notch player really capable of taking the Premier League by storm. He took a while to settle for the Toffees, but when he did he looked accomplished and well-suited to life in England. With Samir Nasri leaving, the Hammers could do with some reinforcements in the centre of the park, and Gomes would be the ideal candidate to fill the void left by the Frenchman’s departure.

Likely to happen?

The big issue in this deal was always going to be the competition from Everton. Having spent a good year on Merseyside, it’s easy to see who Gomes could be tempted to just go back to Goodison Park next term. If the Blues are cooling off on him though, West Ham are surely leading the pack to land him. They have made their move, Barca seem relatively tempted, and at this moment in time, it’s probably fair to assume that east London is his most likely destination next season. That could all change but the signs are very promising indeed.
