When it comes to giving young players a chance, Tottenham do better than most of their Premier League peers. Over the past few years a number of youngsters, both academy graduates and signings, have been given their big break by Mauricio Pochettino, and it would appear that he has his next starlet lined up. Jack Roles, a prominent figure for Spurs’ youth sides for some time now, has put pen to paper on a two year deal at the club, as confirmed by the player himself on Instagram. The 20-year-old has enjoyed a fine season, scoring 11 goals and assisting six more, and is full deserving of his new contract. He has the potential to be a top, top player, and is approaching an age now where he needs to be playing regular first team football to continue his progression. Whether Pochettino believes that he can get that at Spurs next season, or whether he is of the opinion that a loan would be the best option remains to be seen, but whatever happens now, you would expect Roles to have a future of some description at Spurs. This deal is a statement of intent from his manager, and now it falls to the player himself to justify that faith.
