Tottenham have enquired about Leicester City playmaker James Maddison ahead of a potential summer transfer, according to the Daily Star.

The  £50,000-a-week 22-year-old has enjoyed a stellar first season in the Premier League since signing for the Foxes from Norwich City last summer, scoring seven goals and assisting seven more.

It is understood that Leicester value him at around £60 million, but are under no pressure to sell him even at that price.

Spurs are not the only team to have expressed an interest, with both Manchester clubs and Liverpool also enquiring about his services.

Good move for Spurs?

Yes, definitely. Maddison is a player with a massive future ahead of him, and who knows how far he can go in the professional game with the right backing. He has shown already for Leicester that he is a match winner, and he possesses the kind of rare magic that is so hard to come by. He is tricky, mobile, and intelligent, and you will struggle to find a better set piece taker in the English game at the moment. Maddison has it all, and he’s only going to get better and better.

Likely to happen?

Honestly? Probably not. The Foxes only signed him last year and are under no pressure to move him on unless they receive silly money for his services. Whether Spurs will be willing to put up the £60 million+ it will take to sign him is anybody’s guess, but it would certainly be out of character from Daniel Levy to do so. If you then factor in the level of competition they would face for his signature, the chances are that Tottenham will miss out on this one.
