Tottenham have launched a club-record £60million move for Lyon midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to the Sun.

The national newspaper claim that Mauricio Pochettino has made the offer, which would top the fee spent on Davinson Sanchez, in an attempt to beat Premier League rivals Manchester United and City to his signature.

The Sun have reported that Lyon are looking to receive £65million for their midfielder enforcer, after signing the French international for only £7million last summer.

Ndombele has quickly become Pochettino’s top priority in the transfer window, with Daniel Levy set to grant his wish after launching the first bid.

The 22-year-old has made a quick rise to the top after his move from Amiens and was a mainstay in Lyon’s midfield this season making 49 appearances.

Good move for Tottenham?

This would be an excellent addition to the Spurs midfield. Ndombele possesses great power in the middle of the park and would offer great attacking and defensive qualities to an area of the park Pochettino is clearly desperate to improve.

At only 22-years-old, Ndombele has time to become a club hero in his career and at only £60million, he would be a bargain should Lyon choose to accept.

The French international impressed during his sides Champions League victory over Manchester City, and should Spurs beat the two Manchester clubs to his signature, it would be an excellent addition.

Likely to happen?

Lyon have set a reported asking price of £65million for their marquee midfield man and it would all depend on how strict they are to that price. Spurs’ offer comes just below that and Daniel Levy will be hoping that despite being just under, the Ligue 1 club will be willing to budge.

The Sun claim in the same report that Lyon are willing to cash in on Ndombele so should this offer be rejected, Spurs could sign their main target for just a slight increase.
