Celtic are keen on securing the signing of Toulouse defender Christopher Jullien after seeing the centre back visit the club’s training ground, according to L’Equipe.

The French publication claim on their website that the 6’5″ (source: Transfermarkt) colossus has visited Glasgow and been around the Hoops’ training ground, leaving him keen on joining the Bhoys this summer.

It is stated that the 26-year-old would cost the Scottish giants as much as £8.9million (€10million) to secure his capture but that they are impressed with his physical capabilities.

Good move for Celtic?

A new centre back is an absolute must for Neil Lennon this summer and so it should come as no surprise that they are chasing someone like Jullien, who would bring strength, power and a hulking physical presence at the heart of the defence.

Dedryck Boyata is on his way and Felip Benkovic does not look likely to return from his loan spell, leaving the Hoops without two of their top centre back options heading into summer.

That £8.9million is a hefty price tag for a team like the Hoops, who obviously do not have the same spending power English sides do, but he is a proven performer in France and with his best years still ahead of him.

A good move if they can pull it off.

Likely to happen?

Jullien seems to already know what is in store for him should he move to Glasgow, having visited the club’s training facilities and you would not see a player do that if he had no intention of moving.

The big hurdle here is the price tag and the Hoops will have to negotiate hard to get a deal done.

Still, it seems that both player and club are keen on the move and that might well make their task a little easier.
