OPINION
These must be nervy times for Tottenham fans at the moment. The club have just enjoyed one of their finest seasons in a long, long time, capped off with a historic Champions League final against Liverpool. It wasn’t meant to be in Madrid, but the signs are that this is a side on the march, and with the right level of backing, perhaps that kind of achievement would become a regular occurrence. On the other hand, however, this summer could see a number of key talents leave the club, and if that is the case then you can’t help but worry for Mauricio Pochettino’s men. Christian Eriksen is the most high profile player being linked with a move away, as reported by The Sun, but another player who could be on his way out is Toby Alderweireld. The Belgian is into the final year of his contract in north London, as reported by Football.London, and is yet to agree terms on an extension that would keep him at the club beyond his current deal. As such, a replacement might become a necessity, and Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake is the main name being touted as a potential target, as reported by The Sun. The Dutchman was an ever present for the Cherries last season, but it’s fair to say that some Spurs supporters aren’t too happy about the prospect of snapping him up.
